Class 7 Physical Education Unit 5 PDF: Fundamental Skills of Sports — Kabaddi (Khel Yatra)

Class 7 Physical Education Unit 5, Fundamental Skills of Sports — Kabaddi, trains both offensive raiding skills and defensive holding techniques along with court markings, cant rules and team strategy.

What Class 7 Physical Education Unit 5 Covers

The game: two teams take turns sending a raider to tag defenders and get back to their own half without being caught. Kabaddi builds strength, speed and teamwork.

Raiding footwork: a parallel or diagonal stance and three kinds of raid: leading-leg, shuffling-leg and natural-run raids. The lead-up game sets blocks 30 feet (9.15 m) apart for players to run, pick up and return.

Attacking touches: the hand touch, the toe touch (on the same stance, after a step back, running, or as a drag), and the kick, which tags a defender with the leg. Lead-up games call out chest numbers or shapes to train reaction time and eye–foot coordination.

Defensive positions and holds: the corners on the far left and right start tackles. The holds taught are the ankle hold and thigh hold, which stop the raider until they run out of the 30-second breath, and the knee, wrist, waist and chain holds, which stop the raider getting back to their half.

Safety and the court: circle-time talks cover grip strength, reflexes, proper technique and avoiding head collisions in the chain hold. The unit ends by marking out a kabaddi court.
