NCERT is replacing its textbooks class by class under the new National Curriculum Framework. For 2026-27, Class 1 to 8 use the new books (Sarangi, Mridang, Veena, Santoor, Malhar, Poorvi, Ganita Prakash, Curiosity), and Class 9 moves to the new Kaveri, Ganga, Ganita Manjari and Exploration books, while Class 10 to 12 continue with the current editions. Our pages follow the list on ncert.nic.in.

To reduce academic pressure following the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), NCERT implemented a comprehensive rationalisation of textbooks across all classes. Before downloading, understand which edition is required for your academic or competitive examination preparation:

If you are preparing for UPSC or State PSC exams, standard recommendations favor studying Old NCERT History and Geography books for their comprehensive narrative style. For all CBSE school exams, Class 10 & 12 Board examinations 2026–27, use strictly the Rationalised NCERT Textbooks provided above.

How to Download NCERT Books PDF from ncert.nic.in (2026-27)

The fastest way is the class table above. If you prefer the official site, NCERT’s own textbook page works the same way for every class:

STEP 1: Open ncert.nic.in/textbook.php, the official NCERT textbooks page. You will see three drop-down boxes: class, subject and book title.

STEP 2: Select your class, then the subject, then the book (for example Class X, Mathematics, Mathematics for English medium or Ganit for Hindi medium) and click Go.

STEP 3: The book page lists every chapter. Click Open next to a chapter to read or save its PDF, or click Download complete book to get the whole book as one ZIP file.

The complete book comes as a ZIP file, which some phones cannot open without an app. Our class pages give each chapter as a plain PDF instead, so you can skip the unzipping.

How to Buy Printed NCERT Books from NCERT

If you want paper copies, NCERT sells its books by post through ncertbooks.ncert.gov.in, at the printed price:

STEP 1: Open ncertbooks.ncert.gov.in and choose Postal Order.

STEP 2: Pick your class and add the books you need to the cart.

STEP 3: Enter the delivery address, mobile number and email, check the order total and pay online.

STEP 4: Note the order number. You can track the parcel later on the same site by order number, email or mobile number.

Read the No Refund Policy before you pay: books once sold are not returned or exchanged and payments are not refunded, though books with a genuine printing defect are replaced. You can also buy NCERT books at local bookshops and NCERT’s regional production centres.
