The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE), Ajmer, conducts the Class 10 (Secondary) and Class 12 (Senior Secondary) exams for Rajasthan schools, along with the Praveshika and Upadhyay exams of Sanskrit schools. Does Rajasthan Board Follow NCERT Books? Yes

Yes. The Rajasthan Board (RBSE) follows NCERT books for Class 9 to 12. Its official BOOKS 2026-27 page tells students to use the NCERT textbooks for Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Mathematics, Science and Social Science in Class 9 and 10, and for almost every Class 11 and 12 subject, from Physics, Chemistry and Biology to Accountancy, History and Geography. These are the same books CBSE students use, in both Hindi and English medium.

RBSE prints its own books only for subjects NCERT does not cover: Rajasthani (Sahitya Sujas), Gujarati, Punjabi and Sindhi, Sanskrit grammar and poetry, Information Technology, Art, Physical Education, SUPW, Life Skills, Agriculture and Geology. RBSE Syllabus 2026-27 (Exam 2027)

RBSE has published the subject-wise syllabus for the 2026-27 session, which is what the 2027 board exam will be set from. Each PDF gives the marks for every unit, the exam pattern and the prescribed books, so keep the syllabus of your class next to your textbooks.

RBSE Class 11 Subjects: Science Elective Subjects and Streams

In Class 11, every RBSE student studies Hindi, English, Azadi ke Baad ka Swarnim Bharat and Life Skills, and picks three elective subjects from one stream (faculty). The rules below are from the Board’s Class 11 prospectus.

Science stream (Vigyan Sankay)

• Physics (40) and Chemistry (41) are compulsory.
• The third elective is any one of: Biology (42), Mathematics (15), Geology (43), Computer Science (03) or Informatics Practices (04), Environmental Science (61), or one vocational trade such as IT, Health Care, Retail or Automotive.
• Choose Biology for medical (NEET) and Mathematics for engineering (JEE). A vocational trade can be taken only if you passed it in Class 10.

Agriculture and other streams

In the agriculture stream, Agriculture (84) and Agriculture Biology (38) are compulsory with one more subject. Arts and Commerce students choose three subjects from their own stream lists, such as History, Geography and Political Science, or Accountancy and Business Studies.

Class 11 periods per week

Theory papers are 3 hours 15 minutes long. Science electives carry 70 theory marks plus practicals, and you must pass theory and practical separately, with a 36% minimum.

RBSE Previous Year Question Papers (Last 5 Years and Older)

RBSE publishes the actual board papers every year. Solving the last five years of papers is the surest way to learn which chapters are asked again and how marks are split. The 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 papers of the main subjects are linked directly:

RBSE Exams, Time Table and Results

RBSE holds the main Class 10 and Class 12 exams in February and March and usually declares results in May or June, with a supplementary exam a few months later. The Board announces dates in a press note; the 2026 schedule is in the RBSE Time Table 2026 PDF. Results, admit cards and notices appear on the home page of rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in.

Rajasthan Class 5 and Class 8 Board Exams

The Class 5 and Class 8 board exams in Rajasthan are not conducted by RBSE. They are run by the state’s elementary education department at district level, so their old papers are not on the RBSE website, and each district sets its own paper. Class 5 and 8 students follow the books listed on RBSE Books PDF Class 1 to 12.
