Class 6 Arts Chapter 14 PDF: Harmony in Motion (Kriti-I)

Class 6 Arts (Kriti-I) Chapter 14, Harmony in Motion, explores how traditional dances weave together music, handmade dance jewellery and props, stage space (Rangamancha), and nature storytelling into Natya (dance-drama).

What Class 6 Art Chapter 14 Covers

Traditional Dance, DIY Dance Jewellery & Props (Activities 1–3) performs regional dances with local percussion, and crafts lightweight eco-friendly dance ornaments—crowns (mukut), armbands (bajuband), anklets (ghungroo),waistbands and hand props—from cardboard, paper, fabric and beads.

Performance Space & Choreographing Natya on Nature (Activities 4–6) maps stage directions and performance spaces (auditorium, open-air chaotic courtyard, circular folk arena), and choreographs a group Dance Drama (Natya) narrating a story of nature, animals and seasons.

Dances and their instruments: a traditional dance can be shastriya nritya (classical) or loka nritya (folk). Bihu of Assam uses the dhol and the pepa, a wind instrument made of buffalo horn; Sidi Dhamal of Gujarat uses big drums. Groups make their own jewellery, headgear and props from cardboard, coloured paper and ribbon.

Stage and dance drama: costumes must let dancers lift, jump and turn, props must not distract, and dancers enter and exit from both sides. A dance drama (natya) tells a story through steps, body and hastamudras with music; the class creates one on a theme such as avoiding plastic, saving water bodies or organic farming.
