NCERT Class 3 Mathematics Maths Mela Chapter 2 Toy Joy PDF (2026-27)

Toy Joy introduces three-dimensional shapes—cubes, cuboids, cones, cylinders and spheres—through craft work with old boxes, cans and paper rockets built by Jaya and her friends. Children count each 3D shape in toy models, describe positions using spatial words (on top of, under, between), and explore faces, corners and edges of solid shapes by building towers and houses.

What Class 3 Mathematics Chapter 2 Covers

Identifying 3D Shapes: Recognising cubes, cuboids, cones, cylinders and spheres in everyday boxes, bottles and toys

Spatial Vocabulary: Describing positions using between, on top of, under, above, left and right

Faces, Edges and Corners: Observing flat and curved faces, straight and curved edges, and corners on solid shapes

Building with Cubes: Constructing step models, L-shapes and towers using unit cubes and counting how many cubes are used

Exercises in Chapter 2

  • Let us Do & Let us Discuss (Pages 9–11): Count cubes, cuboids, cones and cylinders in Jaya’s rocket and describe which shapes can stack or roll.
  • Let us Play (Pages 11–15): Touch and guess solid shapes in a bag, cross out the odd shape in each row and build models with unit cubes.
