Simile and Metaphors are the literary tools which are used to enhance a piece of writing to be alive. Both the tools are used to compare with dissimilar things.

COMPARISON BETWEEN SIMILE AND METAPHOR

WHY TO USE SIMILE AND METAPHOR WITH LITERARY PIECE OF WRITING?They are used by the writers in order to improve the work of art more emphatically and to give the readers a better understanding about the content. It helps the reader to understand the content easily.HOW TO MAKE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SIMILE AND METAPHOR?While using Simile, the poet uses like or as with dissimilar things but with Metaphor, the thing or character is compared without using like or as.ExamplesSimile-         Sudhansu is as brave as lion.Metaphor- Sudhansu is the lion of my class.

Let’s ponder over the examples of Simile.

  1.  The moon is as cool as ice.
  2. She is as busy as bee.
  3.  Kamal Nayan is as good as anything else.
  4.  The boy is as naughty as puppy.
  5.   Aryan Nayan fights in the field like a tiger.
  6.    He is as slow as snail.

Let’s now think of the examples of Metaphor.

  1.      Sarkar’s brain is computer. (very quick)
  2.       My life is an open book. (no secret)
  3.      She has a heart of gold. (very kind)
  4.       The world is a stage. (The entire world is like a play.)
  5.       He is the Hitler of his family. (like Hitler)
  6.      He is a giraffe of my class. (very tall)
  7.      She is a flower. (very tender and beautiful)
