सुरभिः (Surbhi) is the Sanskrit book for DAV Class 7. Its 10 lessons are mostly stories, plus a dialogue about healthy food: the lion and the clever jackal (बुद्धिः एव अस्माकं बलम्), crows who use a prince’s necklace to get rid of a snake, and the talkative tortoise carried by two swans (अविवेकः परमापदां पदम्). Lessons 5 and 10 are collections of verses and wise sayings. Each lesson also teaches one piece of grammar, so by the end the book has covered tense forms, prefixes, the ktvā and lyap suffixes, the imperative (lot lakār), declensions, the tumun infinitive, pronouns, upapada vibhakti, numbers and vowel sandhi.
