DAV schools stop printing their own textbooks after Class 8. From Class 9 onward, DAV students study from NCERT books, because DAV schools are affiliated to CBSE and Class 9 starts the two-year course that leads to the Class 10 board exam. So the DAV Class 9 books are the NCERT Class 9 books. Every link on this page opens the full 2026-27 edition as one PDF, with no sign-up.
New Class 9 books for 2026-27
NCERT replaced the whole Class 9 set this year. The new books were first printed in June 2026 and follow the National Curriculum Framework 2023. Beehive, Moments, Kshitij, Sparsh, Kritika, Sanchayan, Shemushi and the four separate Social Science books are no longer prescribed. If an older sibling passed down their books or guides, they won’t match what is taught in class now.
- Maths (Ganita Manjari) opens with coordinates and ends with sequences and progressions, a topic that used to wait until Class 10.
- Science (Exploration) begins with a short chapter on how secondary science works, then moves to cells, tissues, motion and atoms.
- Social Science (Understanding Society: India and Beyond, Part I) is one book that mixes geography, history, political science and economics in nine chapters. It replaces the four books DAV students used before.
- English (Kaveri) has eight units. Each pairs a prose lesson with a poem on the same theme, such as Sudha Murty’s How I Taught My Grandmother to Read beside the poem Bharat Our Land.
- Arts, Physical Education and Skill Education now have their own Class 9 textbooks too.

Questions DAV students ask
Does DAV publish its own Class 9 books?
No. DAV’s own series (My English Reader, Secondary Mathematics, Gyan Sagar and the rest) runs up to Class 8. From Class 9, DAV schools follow the CBSE syllabus with NCERT textbooks. For Class 8 and below, see DAV school books PDF for Class 1 to 8.
My school still mentions Beehive and Kshitij. Which book is right?
For 2026-27, NCERT prescribes Kaveri for English and Ganga for Hindi. Beehive, Moments, Kshitij and Kritika belonged to the old set. Check the book list your school gave you. If it shows the new names, use the links above.
Why is there only Part I of the Social Science book?
NCERT has printed the new Social Science book in parts. Part I has nine chapters, from Understanding Social Science and the shaping of the Earth’s surface to elections and the price puzzle in economics. It covers only the first part of the year’s course.
